# Connect Pollaris to Cursor (/docs/mcp/cursor)

Cursor reads MCP servers from `.cursor/mcp.json` for one project or `~/.cursor/mcp.json` for your user account. Pollaris uses a remote Streamable HTTP endpoint with a Bearer token. Cursor's current MCP format is documented in the [official Cursor MCP guide](https://docs.cursor.com/en/context/model-context-protocol).

## Configure a personal connection [#configure-a-personal-connection]

Create or edit `~/.cursor/mcp.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "pollaris": {
      "url": "https://mcp.pollaris.cc/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer plr_mcp_v1_REPLACE_ME"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

Use a personal config for a literal secret. Do not commit this file.

For a project-shared configuration, create `.cursor/mcp.json` but do not put a real key in version control. Whether environment placeholders are supported can depend on the Cursor surface/version; verify the resolved connection before relying on one. A user-level file is the safest portable choice for the credential.

## Enable and test it [#enable-and-test-it]

1. Open Cursor settings and go to **Tools & MCP**.
2. Reload the MCP servers, or restart Cursor.
3. Confirm `pollaris` is enabled and its tools appear.
4. In Agent chat, ask: `Use Pollaris to list my accessible workspaces.`
5. For a write-key test, ask the agent to create a small draft, review the tool call, and confirm the returned `editor_url` opens the draft.

Cursor Agent uses MCP tools when relevant. You can explicitly say `Use the Pollaris MCP tools` if it answers without calling them.

## Remove or replace the key [#remove-or-replace-the-key]

Delete the `pollaris` entry to remove the connection. When rotating a key, replace only the token value, save the file, then reload the MCP server.

## Troubleshooting [#troubleshooting]

* **Unauthorized:** The key is incomplete, expired, revoked, or copied with extra spaces.
* **Server not found:** Confirm the JSON is valid and the file is exactly `.cursor/mcp.json` or `~/.cursor/mcp.json`.
* **No tools:** Confirm the URL ends in `/mcp`, then restart Cursor.
* **Workspace missing:** The key was not granted that workspace, or your Pollaris membership changed.
* **Write call denied:** The key needs `pollaris.forms.write`, and you must be an editor or owner in that workspace.
