# Connect Pollaris to Claude Code (/docs/mcp/claude-code)

Claude Code supports remote HTTP MCP servers and custom authorization headers. See Anthropic's [official Claude Code MCP documentation](https://code.claude.com/docs/en/mcp) for current client commands and configuration scopes.

## Fastest setup [#fastest-setup]

Run this command with your actual endpoint and key:

```bash
claude mcp add \
  --transport http \
  --scope user \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer plr_mcp_v1_REPLACE_ME" \
  pollaris \
  https://mcp.pollaris.cc/mcp
```

All options must appear before the server name (`pollaris`). User scope makes the connection available across projects without putting the credential in a repository.

## Environment-variable configuration [#environment-variable-configuration]

To keep a project configuration shareable, create `.mcp.json` in the project root:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "pollaris": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.pollaris.cc/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer ${POLLARIS_MCP_API_KEY}"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

Then set `POLLARIS_MCP_API_KEY` outside the repository before launching Claude Code:

```bash
export POLLARIS_MCP_API_KEY='plr_mcp_v1_REPLACE_ME'
claude
```

Claude Code prompts before trusting project-scoped MCP servers. Inspect the URL and configuration before accepting.

## Verify the connection [#verify-the-connection]

```bash
claude mcp list
claude mcp get pollaris
```

Inside Claude Code, run `/mcp` to view status. Then ask:

```text
Use Pollaris to list my accessible workspaces and forms. Do not modify anything.
```

## Manage the connection [#manage-the-connection]

```bash
# Remove the configured server
claude mcp remove pollaris
# View command-specific help if your installed version differs
claude mcp --help
```

Pollaris currently uses API-key Bearer authentication rather than MCP OAuth. Configure the `Authorization` header; do not start an OAuth login flow.

## Troubleshooting [#troubleshooting]

* Run `/mcp` and inspect the connection error.
* Confirm the transport is `http`, not the deprecated `sse` transport.
* Confirm the endpoint includes `/mcp`.
* If `${POLLARIS_MCP_API_KEY}` does not resolve, launch Claude Code from the shell where it is exported.
* If tools read successfully but writes fail, check the key's scopes and your workspace role.
